Picked up the Vital Health brochure at GoodLife Fitness, and was immediately intrigued by David Lee’s holistic approach – the way he addresses all of the physical, nutritional, emotional, and spiritual, connections that affect each individual’s health and well-being. Even so, it wasn’t until a full year later, that I actually decided that I was ready to make the commitment to change.
I am not what I would consider to be an athletic person, and I am very ‘involved’ in my business, my volunteer work, my daughter, my friends and my family, so I have always had a challenge ‘fitting in’ the exercise (plus did I mention I love chocolate?). As a 14 year cancer survivor, single parent and someone who has already dealt with some other rather significant challenges in my life, I realized it was ridiculous that somehow I had allowed myself to become obese, inactive and weak. My eating habits, my exercise habits, my entire way of life needed an overhaul – I knew that I needed someone to help me
I finally picked up the phone and called David and I am very glad I did. Three months into the Vital Health program, my clothes were already starting to fall off me and I had a spring in my step again. I have now been with David for six months, and I am feeling healthier than I have in years, not to mention the fact that I have had the opportunity to meet – and ‘sweat with’ – some rally great people along the way!
After the initial weight loss, my goal was to develop habits and programs that would be sustainable. I’ve done ‘spurts’ of change in the past, but this time I wanted to learn tools and techniques that I could – and would – carry on with for the long term.
David’s program is great because, in addition to working with you on the equipment in his studio, he also teaches realistic exercises that can be done at home with minimal, inexpensive equipment. Basic floor work doesn’t have to take up great amounts of time and can be fit into your day whenever it suits you best, and a cardio program can consist of enjoyable activities that can essentially be done anytime, anywhere.
David is very motivating – he assumes that you want the body he envisions you having, even when you are not so sure you can achieve that. He’s tough when he has to be, understanding when you need it and always willing to share new information.
The most important outcome for me personally is that David has taught me that I am capable of so much more than I believe. I had been going to the gym but had never really pushed myself very hard. Now I know what a workout should feel like and I also know when I am wasting my time by just going through the motions!
I am very thankful that I chose the Vital Health program. David has helped me to put my health in order and given me the tools and training to keep it that way.
